501(c)(3), yeah you know me!

Tree Town Tennis’s purpose is to advance the development of youth and adult public tennis through various high-quality, positive, and fun community tennis programs for the Boise, Idaho area, including the surrounding suburbs. Tree Town Tennis is organized to be exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the scope of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code - since Jan 1, 2024.

Our Vision and Mission:

We believe tennis to be a resource for social connectedness, health, and personal growth, not a privilege, and Tree Town Tennis will focus on being inclusive and engaging for all people, regardless of race, gender, age, skill, or disability.  These programs will satisfy the Boise-metro area’s need for increased access to community tennis and an opportunity for players of all ages and abilities to better their physical, mental, and social health while also improving the economic and general wellbeing of the community through tennis participation.

Future Goals:

By 2030, we hope our programs will be held in a permanent 6 court public indoor tennis facility, built and run by Tree Town Tennis. Our preferred location is from Western Boise to Western Meridian - max of a 20 minute drive from the centers of Boise, Meridian, Eagle, and Nampa.  This facility and programs will be accessible and available for public use without requiring a membership to play or participate.

The community will have access to tennis court rentals, adult and junior tennis classes and private lessons, local tournaments and league play, social events, wheelchair tennis, as well as other programs and amenities deemed appropriate for a tennis facility and to the changing needs of the tennis community.  Tree Town Tennis may expand and/or build similar facilities in the future, including outdoor tennis courts, on or offsite, depending on community usage and need.

Tree Town Tennis will include opportunities for underprivileged youth and adults, including people with disabilities, to participate in lower-cost lessons and programs via scholarship (or similar) support.

Support Our Mission:

We are passionate about tennis, especially about growing tennis in the Boise area.

Our vision is to build a public year-round indoor tennis facility where ANYONE can reserve a court and play. It will be the first of its kind in the area! We just need your help. Donate money through Zeffy (100% of your donation goes to us), help sponsor an event, or donate goods for fundraising! We are also recognized as a 509(a)(2) public charity!

If you wish to donate more money - for a personalized brick or a tennis court named after you - please email us at treetowntennis@gmail.com.

Kevin has had a wonderful opportunity to see the world through his design career and see the unique qualities that make us all so different and yet so much alike.

Aug. 3, 2008 while riding to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Kevin went down on his motorcycle in the Tetons, and became a RAK amputee. That one singular event has brought him a much richer life than he ever could imagined following such a life altering accident.  His passion is now shifted to finding more initiative solutions for others in the adaptive world.  This has created and opened up a much more fulfilling relationship with a broader community of individuals from amputees to quadriplegics, young and old.  Kevin is looking forward to the self-growth that these new relationships and opportunities have brought into his life following his accident.

For the past 15 years Kevin has been involved with Wheelchair sports throughout the community. Starting with Basketball and then adding Tennis, Kevin now runs the Wheelchair Basketball Program at BSU for the Student Rec. Center and is President of the Idaho Wheelchair Tennis Association for the past 6 years. During this time Kevin helped with Boise City Recreation Adaptive program and various CAF of Idaho events. Currently working with other IWTA members in getting Colligate Adaptative sports going at BSU, starting with Wheelchair Tennis and then Basketball.

Kevin enjoys instructing and helping the new players in tennis and loves the competition it keeps him younger in spirit and health.

Director: Christeena Sevy (aka Sevy):

After years of not playing sports, she found herself on court with some league players and the rest is history. Sevy started coaching in 2020 at Centennial High School, and is now the Varsity Head Coach. In the off season, she instructs Tennis is Elementary (TiE) through the Idaho Tennis Association, and is a tennis tournament director for the Boise metro area. She will be graduating May 2024 from Idaho State University with another bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Sevy hopes to bring Visually impaired tennis to Idaho, improve opportunities for junior players, and run community tennis events all over the valley.

Director: TJ Sturges: I am a certified public accountant licensed through the State of Idaho. I am a graduate of Boise State University where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in accounting and my master’s degree in taxation. My experience as a certified public accountant includes tax planning and preparation for businesses and individuals. My experience includes 11 years in public accounting and 5 years in private industry, including 3 years as vice president of finance for a multi-state health care company. In my free time I like to read, cook, and spend time with my wife and 5 kids.

Director: Trevor Jones: Trevor grew up in Vancouver, WA playing many sports, however, becoming proficient in tennis and was his most consistent interest from the age of 5. After competing in junior tennis throughout the Pacific Northwest, Trevor played college tennis at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Two years into his college career he decided to leave Denver in pursuit of an architecture degree at the University of Washington. And although he competed in club tennis, the sport took a back seat until he graduated in 2018. He received a job at the Seattle Tennis Club in the summer of 2018 with the title of Tennis Operations Coordinator and Assistant Pro, tasking him with teaching all ages and skills, working the pro shop and stringing, drafting and distributing member communications, and helping to coordinate and run events. In 2020, Trevor took a position at the club as the Director of Junior Tennis and had the opportunity to focus more on his passion of developing juniors. His goal was to increase the work ethic and passion to improve within his juniors, hoping to open their eyes to more competitive tennis outside of their club and provide them with more match play opportunities in the wake of Covid-19.

In 2023, Trevor and his partner felt it was time to move on from Seattle and started to explore places to move. After a short 10 day trip to Boise, they felt a connection with the area and took a leap of faith, moving in on December 1st, 2023. Trevor quickly joined up at Eagle Tennis Club, he helped coach the Eagle High School JV team. Coming from a club where he worked isolated from much of the greater Seattle community, Trevor wants to work to grow quality learning and playing opportunities for all those in Boise who are interested in taking up tennis, especially the junior population. In coming to Tree Town Tennis, Trevor hopes to contribute by connecting and communicating with schools in the greater Boise area to both endorse the organization and offer affordable and quality teaching to those who want it.
